Skyline Sharks Swim Team

Skyline Acres Swim Team is a member of the Denver Metro League Swimming Association, consisting of  Skyline, Crestmoor Community Association, Eastmoor Swim and Tennis Club, Central Park (formerly Stapleton) Swim Club, and Virginia Vale Swim Club.

Skyline swimmers work to improve their technique while building strong bonds with their teammates. Swimmers work together at practices, encourage each other at meets, and have a blast at team social events throughout the summer. The competitive season runs from the first week of June to the end of July.

Skyline members 5 to 18 years old are welcome to join the Skyline Swim Team. They must be able to swim the length of a 25-meter pool to participate.

TEAM GOALS
  • Have fun and be JAWSOME!

  • Embody and endorse our core values: Joy, Integrity, Sportsmanship, and Respect.

  • Encourage and promote swimming, improve strokes and techniques, promote good sportsmanship, and build self-esteem.

  • Develop and foster friendships and team unity through activities that increase team spirit.

Parent Participation Requirements

Parent involvement is critical for running swim meets‚ and required for participation in the swim team.
For those who are new to the summer swim league experience, participating in swim meets is a FAMILY AFFAIR! Being a Skyline team parent is a lot of fun and a great way to get to know other Skyline families and become involved with your child’s team. By registering your child for the swim team, you are agreeing to our Parent Participation Requirements.

The information provided below is a summary. Please read the Parent Participation Requirements document for full details (document updated May 2024).

EVERY family is required to offer a parent to work at swim meets and/or team social events as follows:

  • Every year, a minimum of 3 shifts. If a family does not sign-up for 3 shifts, we will assign shifts to them. If you have ANY unfulfilled requirements on JULY 31, 2024, a $400 charge will be placed on your CASA account.

  • If your children compete in Invitationals, A League or State, you may be required to do additional timing shifts at those meets as well.

  • Failure to show up for any shift, whether assigned by us or selected by you, will result in a $100 charge added to your CASA account.

  • No exceptions – every swim team family is required to work a minimum of 3 shifts, regardless of whether you attend meets, travel, work full-time, or are on the waitlist.

  • Families may opt-out of the parent participation requirements for $400 paid in CASA before May 8th.

If you believe you have a compelling case for an exception, please email us at aquatics@skylineacres.org. Exceptions will only be granted by consensus of the Aquatics Committee. Only the Aquatics Committee may assign, give credit, or grant exceptions to the Parent Participation Requirements.

The Sign-Up Genius for Parent Participation Opportunities will open yearly on May 15 at 9 am.

Communication

Skyline Swim Team uses email as our main method of communication. Our preferred method of communication is pool side with a cold beverage in hand. As a summer pool, we try to stay true to our old-school vibe, and have as many IRL (in real life) conversations as we can vs emails. But if all else fails, email us at aquatics@skylineacres.com.

Sign up for Rained OUT to receive text alerts when practices or meets are cancelled due to weather.

We invite you to become a part of this year’s team and enjoy some fun in the sun! If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at aquatics@skylineacres.org.

GO Skyline!
